Driven by a passion to create dynamic, functional and sophisticated workspaces, Canopy exists because we believe that Australian workplaces could - and should - be better.

Our Managing Director, Karl Simity, believes that “we spend too much time at work for an office to be uninspiring” - and so we set to work and Canopy was born. It is this belief that workspaces should be inspiring to the people who inhabit them that drives the team of expert designers, architects and our construction team to deliver the best bespoke office fitouts to our clients across Melbourne.

Our Passionate Team

Karl is a qualified shopfitter, registered commercial builder, has studied both drafting and design and holds a membership with Master Builders Association. Over the last 18 years in the industry, he has delivered over 6000 fitouts for happy clients both nationally and internationally.

Karl has worked on the ground, getting crucial hands-on experience in design; challenging thoughts and boundaries of what is achievable in project management, overseeing projects from inception and site selection all the way to relocation.

Sam is a passionate and skilled designer who is driven by connecting people to space and creating interiors that spark a connection to their childhood. Using natural and sustainable materials within a project is something Sam will continually push for.

Sam completed his Thesis on Contemporary Rammed Earth Design and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) (Honours), Interior Architecture from Curtin University, WA. In his time at University, Sam was chosen to mentor, lead and assist second and third year students throughout their journey through their own studies.

“I am a very passionate designer that focuses on sustainability and pushing limits of interior spaces. I believe that a space should accentuate the feeling of 'home' through means of constant planning, conceptualization, and thorough research. Nature plays a huge role in the way I design a space, and to re-connect people to nature through design is my passion”.

Sam Fossati

Design Manager

Rohan has over 24 years in the construction industry, having worked in both the commercial and domestic fields. His skill set is vast having built a solid career in the industry - transitioning from working ‘on the tools' as a domestic builder to a commercial project manager and a project consultant.

Rohan enjoys working with his clients to turn their vision into a reality, from conception to completion, on time and within budget.

Rohan is a qualified carpenter, holds a Certificate IV in Building and Construction, Certificate III in OH&S, and is a registered domestic builder. He is also a registered 'green living' master builder.

Jerlyn is a highly skilled Executive Assistant with a wealth of experience in administrative tasks, project management, social media, and customer service. Her diverse skill set enables her to manage dynamic responsibilities both efficiently and effectively. Known for her bright disposition and positive attitude, Jerlyn brings professionalism and enthusiasm to her work. She excels at handling complex projects and fostering strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike. With her cheerful demeanor and dynamic capabilities, Jerlyn is well-positioned to make a significant impact on our team’s success.

Luke is a hardworking and organised Project Manager with a strong background in construction, both on and off the tools. His years of hands on experience on construction sites has left him with a reservoir of skills he can draw upon to transform client expectations and designs into an onsite reality, within budget and on time.

His experience in construction Project Management encapsulates commercial fit outs across all of Australia and overseas, from small fit outs to large, multimillion-dollar projects. No matter the size of the works, Luke brings the same can-do attitude to the project at hand.

Ken is an interior designer with a bachelor's degree in architecture and over 12 years of experience working with design projects locally and globally.
For the past 6 years he turned his focus to commercial and retail design, where he aims to deliver a unique user experience and customer journey on every project he handles.

With over 2 decades of experience in the industry, Johnny knows fitouts like no other. He's done just about everything during his time in the industry; from design to project management, both on small single-storey developments to massive, large-scale construction projects.

He has a meticulous eye for construction detail, and has made a name for himself as a leader in the fitout industry. He brings his depth of knowledge and experience to Canopy, working alongside the wider team to bring our most ambitious projects to life.

Since completing her Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) at RMIT Jade has gained experience working on a various range of projects in residential, commercial and hotel design.“Transforming spaces is an art that I am passionate about. No two projects are the same. It is important that each space is designed to meet the clients individual needs.“We spend such a large percentage of our time indoors, so it is important to make sure our interiors are not only beautiful, but functional.”

Domenic Misale is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background in both the commercial fitout industry and the hospitality sector. With over 25 years of industry experience, he has established himself as a trusted project consultant, renowned for his exceptional skills and expertise.

Domenic has spent the last five years in the commercial fitout industry, where he has served as a project consultant. In this capacity, he has been responsible for managing large-scale projects and ensuring that they are delivered on time and within budget. He has a deep understanding of the fitout process, including design, planning, and construction, and has been instrumental in the successful completion of many complex projects.

Jemma is a seasoned property expert with 18+ years of experience in the construction industry, handling various roles like asset and project management, leasing, operations, and property development. She is skilled in stakeholder and project management, and holds a Bachelor of Property degree. Jemma played a crucial role in the client-side project management of the award-winning Victorian Pride Centre development in St Kilda.

Matthew is one of our superstar Project Manager's here at the Canopy Team. He is an efficient, hardworking and experienced member of the team.

He has completed his Advanced Diploma of Building Design and Construction and his Diploma of Project Management. He has worked in the building and construction industry for over 10 years and 5 years at an architecture firm.

Matthew is a great asset to the team and his work ethic and professionalism speaks volumes as he has delivered 50 incoming tenancies in 2019 alone and 23 refurbishments. He is a dedicated member of the team his continuous strive for excellence is something we value greatly.

Matt is a Multi award winning qualified builder and site supervisor who’s passion is to provide high quality spaces for people to not just work but to thrive in. Key to his success is building relationships with everyone involved in the construction process. He prioritises clients needs to help them achieve there desired outcomes. Matts goal to provide smooth and professional construction sites and to ensure that every aspect of the construction process is carried out as per plan and executed to a very high standard and is enjoyable for everyone involved.

Heather is our creative and hardworking Interior Designer who has brought a wealth of in-depth knowledge and skills to the team.

She has completed her Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) at RMIT. Heather has extensive experience designing for the hospitality industry and carries this over all aspects of the commercial design industry. She is well versed in the importance of balancing functionality, durability and aesthetics in commercial projects.

Heather is very understanding of her client's needs and easily adapts to many different interior design trends/ themes.

Andrea is a highly accomplished Interior Designer with a Master of  Architecture and a postgraduate degree in Project Management. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for creativity.

With extensive experience both overseas and locally, Andrea has worked on a diverse range of projects, spanning residential, commercial, fitouts,  and hospitality spaces. Her international exposure has allowed her to gather inspiration from various cultures and design styles, infusing them into her unique and innovative approach.

Andrea brings vibrancy and life to every space she designs. Her expertise lies in creating captivating interiors that seamlessly blend form and function, while also reflecting the individuality and personality of her clients.

It’s all about the process!

Design Phase

Our Consultant and Designer meet with you to discuss your business fitout needs and get a clear perspective on your vision. We will discuss your requirements and what challenges you are currently facing with your workspace; whether it’s a size issue, a functionality improvement or simply a workspace update, we will work with you to find the most suitable commercial fitout solution for your requirements and budget.

Proposal

We prepare proposals based on the brief from the initial meeting where we go through and plan the look and feel of the proposed business fitout project. This is where we get feedback from you so we can proceed to the next step. We offer cost effective solutions for an affordable fitout, so your budget is always top of mind.

Site Commencement

All costs are agreed upon during this stage and the outline of the project and timelines are discussed. We organise all relevant permits to be approved and issue you with a final Construction Set, Fixtures and Finishes Schedule and a Project Schedule.

Construction

We carefully source and recruit the right contractors for each fitout construction job. We work with our team of Designers and suppliers to ensure consistency across the look and feel of the project, and conduct weekly site visits with you so you can check in on the fitout and how it is coming together.

At completion, we conduct a handover to you after ensuring you’ve had a thorough walk through of the new space and make sure you are happy with your completed project. We continue to work with you to take care of any additional needs and ensure they are resolved in readiness for your relocation.
