Classic Italian Elegance Meets Modern Innovation at Mirabella Lighting
Mirabella Lighting, an Australian household name, is the leader in high-quality, innovative lighting and electronics solutions for homes and businesses across the country. With a deep history that finds its roots in Sicilian shores, Mirabella has lit up Australia from coast to coast for over 60 years. For this new office fitout, we highlighted these historical elements, reflecting the brand's rich heritage while incorporating modern design elements and functionality.
Integrating History and Innovation
Inspired by the legacy of the Mirabella brand, we designed a client meeting space that embodies the company’s journey. Custom steel frames with LED internals were created, featuring acrylic inserts etched with the Mirabella story. Each frame also suspends an original Mirabella light bulb, allowing clients to connect with the brand’s history in a tangible way.
Italian Styling with Modern Accents
The Italian influence is unmistakable from the moment you step into the main meeting space. The floor is adorned with custom-cut Rosso Levanto and Carrara Marble, laid in a striking diamond pattern. This is complemented by a Calacatta Viola Marble splashback and benchtop at the bar, exuding luxury and timeless elegance. Bronze accents in the frames pair beautifully with warm walnut timbers, which are a consistent feature throughout the joinery and extend into the gallery space.
A Journey Through Light
A standout feature of the design is the series of custom LED archways that guide clients from the meeting room into the gallery space. In the early stages of this feature development, we were inspired by the idea of being surrounded by light. Flanked by walnut vinyl flooring and walnut timber shelving for contrast, the LEDs feel amplified but not overwhelmingly bright. As clients walk through these archways, they are introduced to Mirabella’s products in a perfectly lit, museum-like setting that emphasises both form and function.
Flexible and Functional Design
Aesthetics are great. Functionality is equally–if not more–important.
The gallery space is designed to be flexible, with product displays that can be easily moved and rearranged to suit various needs. Internal sliding partitions allow for the creation of distinct zones within the gallery, providing versatility for different types of presentations and events. Toward the rear of the gallery, a secondary meeting space features bronze accents similar to those in the main room, with soft furnishings and amphitheatre-style seating for more informal meetings.
Industrial-Inspired Work Room
Adjacent to the main meeting space is a large work room that adopts a more industrial aesthetic. Here, concrete tiles and concrete-effect feature paint complement black ceilings and joinery, creating a space where the team can work on product builds and adjustments, or simply enjoy a secondary workspace away from the main office.
