Fitouts can come in all shapes and sizes, and at Canopy Fitouts, we are fortunate enough to work with a unique set of clients and talented architects. Our client, Samuel Property, are residential property developers that pride themself on their people-centric and purpose-built approach. And like them, we hope for our fitouts to serve that same purpose. In this case, we were given the opportunity to build a hybrid retail-hospitality fitout that could showcase the client's latest apartment development and provide a unique experience for prospective buyers.

The design intent of the space was to replicate the aesthetics of the proposed development and give prospective buyers a sense of what it's like to live there. With the apartment design focusing on built-in joinery, curved form and muted palettes, so too was the fitout. To build this, we divided the space to showcase a display bathroom, kitchen and living area. At the same time, the fitout needed to function as a space where its buyers could comfortably meet with sales consultants – and elevating this experience meant equipping the fitout with a fully-functional café kitchen.

The curved features and premium finishes were paramount to the mood and flow of the space. Due to the complexity of the joinery, however, building these required thorough cabinetry knowledge and well-versed tradesmen. We were able to utilise our existing contractor relationships to execute such detail and keep the build affordable where possible. In areas like the café fitout, where electrical and plumbing services needed to work in tandem with joinery, we could ensure these were connected without compromising the design intent- these were concealed within a raised floor.

In showcasing the client's latest apartment development, several complex lighting and electrical components were involved in executing this intent. From a build perspective, however, the existing lighting plan was insufficient for the proposed layout. Therefore, we required detailed hardware plans and adequate data and electrical cabling to be laid. By doing so, we were able to construct a fitout that could host a series of backlit LED screens - all connected to the cloud and controlled wirelessly by iPad.
